Original Artwork by kAt Philbin

Measures 5" x 7"

"kAt Philbin has been drawing since they could hold a utensil and will continue for as long as that is possible. Originally hailing from the Middle-of-Nowhere, Missouri, they moved to Los Angeles in 2013. For nearly 20 years they have been creating art under the Stupid Animals name, crafting detailed illustrations that reflect their love of creatures and forests and many, many tiny lines kAt is currently based in North Hollywood with the cat Bart Shrimpson and a few too many dust bunnies."

Statement for Uncanny Marvels art show:

"For Uncanny Marvels, I wanted to explore the feeling of the artwork itself being haunted, leaving you unsettled. Obsessive, repetitive detail; horrible faces drawn, then hidden behind blackness; ink and unexpected shadows. To expand on the haunted theme, I imagined a book of fairy tales one might stumble across as a kid. The colorful illustrations cheerful, but upsetting. Little Lynette who loses her hands for sneaking a bite of dessert, a jester whose smiling dance continues after he has been transformed into a horrible pig, a magical helper come to babysit, but why does he look like that? The sort of book that might color your nightmares for years, but be remembered only vaguely in adulthood."
