Saltpeter (Potassium Nitrate)
Powerful Protection & Banishing Work
Saltpeter has been a cornerstone of American folk magic for generations, prized by rootworkers for its fierce protective and banishing properties. Also known as potassium nitrate, this mineral compound was historically used in gunpowder production, lending it an explosive spiritual reputation for breaking up unwanted situations and driving away evil.
In traditional hoodoo practice, Saltpeter is essential for:
- Breaking up troublesome relationships - Scatter around properties or add to mojo bags to cause discord and separation
- Banishing enemies and crossed conditions - Burn with other curios to send negative influences away
- Protecting your home - Sprinkle across doorways and windowsills to repel unwanted visitors
- Reversing hexes - Combine with other reversing herbs to send harmful magic back to its source
Rootworkers value Saltpeter for its "hot" nature - it works fast and powerfully. A little goes a long way in floor washes, war waters, and spell pouches. Use with caution and clear intention, as this is aggressive magic meant for serious situations requiring immediate spiritual intervention.
External use only in spiritual practices.
